The short version
- ElBee Player has no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking.
- Your sign-in details stay in your Mac's Keychain. We never receive them.
- We never see what you watch, your playlists, favourites or settings.
- This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics.
- If you contact us, we use what you send only to reply to you.
Who we are
“ElBeeHQ”, “we” and “us” mean the independent developer of ElBee Player and this website, elbeehq.com. You can reach us with the contact form.
In the app
- Sign-in details. Server addresses, usernames and passwords are stored in the encrypted macOS Keychain on your Mac. They're sent only to the service you entered, never to us.
- Your library and viewing. Channel lists, programme guides, artwork, favourites, history, resume points and settings are kept on your Mac, inside the app's sandbox. Recommendations and other features are worked out on your Mac. None of it is sent to us. If you turn on syncing between your Macs, your favourites and Continue Watching are stored in your own Apple account's private storage, which we can't access.
- Network connections. ElBee Player connects only to the service you enter (for channel lists, programme guides, the artwork addresses it supplies, and the streams), to GitHub to check for and download updates, and, when you cast, to the TVs and speakers on your local network that you choose. Like any web request, these let the server see your IP address; GitHub can also see the app version. You can turn automatic update checks off in Settings › General › Software Updates.
- Your service. The service you sign in to receives your sign-in details and requests, as it would from any player. How it handles your information is governed by its own terms and privacy policy, not ours.
On this website
- No cookies or analytics. This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking.
- Hosting. The website is hosted by GitHub Pages. GitHub may log visitors' IP addresses to keep its service running and secure, as described in GitHub's own privacy statement.
- Download links and What's New. To show the latest version and its download, and to build the What's New page, your browser fetches release information directly from GitHub. Downloads also come from GitHub.
If you contact us
The contact form sends us your name, email address, the topic, the version you enter and your message. It's delivered to our inbox by FormSubmit, an email form service, which handles it under its own privacy policy.
We use what you send only to read and reply to your message. We don't add you to any mailing list, and we never sell or share your information. We keep messages only as long as we need them to help you, and we delete them sooner if you ask.
If you report a problem on GitHub instead, your report is public and is handled by GitHub under its own terms and privacy statement. Don't include anything there you'd rather keep private, such as sign-in details or server addresses.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, if any, and ask us to correct or delete it, using the contact form. Information that stays on your Mac is yours to remove: clear ElBee Player's caches in Settings › Storage, or delete the app and its data.
Children
ElBee Player and this website aren't aimed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
